Customer Service - POS Software Guide - Cashier Live

As technology continues to evolve, so should your customer service policies and strategies. POS software is constantly changing to be more inclusive of the customer, providing you a database loaded with customer information that your business can use to produce an increase in profit forecasts. Retention of customers has been shown to be the foundation of a successful business, and POS software employs all of the necessary means to make that effort that much easier.

1. Link together your store’s Caller ID and customer profile. Doing this will allow you to see both basic and detailed customer information that may include their name, phone number, purchase history and more. This can give you both a background on what your caller may be calling in reference to as well as a basic understanding of how to interact with them.

2. Input personal information about your customers. This does mean a little extra work with each phone call, but this proves beneficial in improving relations with your customers. You can do this by having a warehouse of information in your database about concerns or even personal stories from your customers. Adding a personal touch to your interactions with your customers maintains that “small town” vibe of personalization where a customer may be encouraged to return to a store based on their observations of and experiences with store employees. Welcome friendly conversation as you assist your customers with their problems.

3. Teach your employees to draw forth digital copies of receipts. As you deal with your customer during return transactions, you’ll frequently find customers giving a variety of excuses as to why they do not have a physical copy of their receipt present. Offer to save them the trouble of explaining by simply searching their purchase history or even ask if they received an email copy of their receipt. This not only saves time but provides a verification process that your customers are not trying to commit fraud.

4. Check pricing and stock levels. Much of your employees time may be wasted needlessly searching for items in stockrooms and on store shelves, when a properly managed POS software system can easily show item availability. Most POS systems will also show you similar items to suggest to customers in the event that the sought item is in fact out of stock.

5. Check special orders/layaways. Finding layaway purchases is made significantly easier with the use of POS software. Rather than scrambling to write down box numbers and other pieces of information on paper, you can simply enter the customer’s name or phone number into the database and see their order and its location promptly displayed on the monitor.

POS software has revolutionized modern customer service and continues to develop new, creative ways to give your customers the best experience possible.
